Ever have the doctr tickle your vag when getting a shot in the butt? I recently had to get a penicillin shot.. for strep throat. The doctor told me to lay on the exam table and said that he would be right back. Both my doctor and a nurse came in the room. The nurse lifted up my skirt and used an alcohol swab on my butt. Then my doctor put his hand under my front side and began tickling it (which made me laugh histarically) and the nurse injected the penicillin in my butt. It wasn't in an abusive manner as my thong was still on and my pediatrician was only trying to reduce the pain of the big shot. In general, are shots given to 15 yr olds in the butt?
dave l replied: "woa, i am speechless"
Liza replied: "I don't know if shots are routinely given in the butt, but doctors do not routinely tickle their female patients in the vagina. Tell your parents immediately! This doctor was waaay out of line! If he wanted to make you laugh he could have told you a great joke."
hannah s replied: "That was a very odd experience for you i bet."
mlgable replied: "Penicillin is given in the buttocks often but most other shots are given in the thigh or arm muscle. The behavior you describe in your post is not appropriate and if this really happened I hope you report it to your parents so the can change your doctor. This was not something to be laughing about and should not have been tolerated."
Patty t replied: "OMG are you lying....tell your mother or father, as for they should have been in there with you so that this wouldn't happen. It was inappropriate for the doctor to touch you in such manner."
Jami replied: "Yes some shots have to be given there because they will absorb better."
Sarahsmama replied: "The nurse was in the room to make sure nothing "funny" was going on."
katy replied: "no not unless u are pregnant then no shots arent given o 15yr olds in the butt"
countryboy replied: "I think that doctor needs to be investigated! That is no way to treat a lady! Or any patient for that matter. You're joking, aren't you?"
RickinAlaska replied: "You need to report this first to your parents. It raises a lot of red flags. It just rings of perversion. On both the doctor and the nurse. Act on this!"
kitty replied: "That doesn't sound right I've never heard of that before i think i would find another Dr it sounds like something is wrong with the Dr you had better check it out sounds like he wanted a free feel sounds like a form of sexual harassment"
irishbaby replied: "i think the doctor was trying to turn you on. usually where he was tickling you is where the clitoris is and that's very sensitive. if you're uncomfortable you should tell your mom and get a new doctor."
Quite New Here replied: "Heck no. Penicillin can be given by tablets so there was no need for that.
That incident reeks of sexual touching (predatory practices by a trusted individual) and doctors have been known to lose their licenses to practice with incidents like this.
Record everything regarding the incident, location of clinic, witnesses, full names of the doctor and the nurse. time and date. Ask your parents for advice first.
The incident you described is out of the ordinary so you might think it is a joke, but it is not.
My first reaction was to suspect your story.
Everything was all wrong with your story. The medical practice have sets of standard ways of practice and we all do things in exactly the same way.
It is up to you to prove everybody who reads this that you are telling the truth."
mdgbear68 replied: "yes people of all ages get shots in the butt, having a Doc tickle you there is not right, tell your parents this is not normal, and immoral practices in the medical profession, there are Doc in the news all the time sexually abusing their patients, this should not be allowed to happen, think of what he is doing to others and maybe even younger."
Mike J replied: "I can only wish someone would pay me an obscene amount of money like that to tickle girls' coochies."
princesspipster replied: "lol...I am sorry but this has left me in stitches! If this indeed happend then girl,RUN don't walk to tell your parents or trusted adult.NO doctor is supposed to tickle your pee pee!I can't imagine a doctor doing that at all,not saying he didn't but if he did.....go tell someone NOW!Getting a shot in the butt by a Doctor is OK though,no matter what the age, that's nothing for concern....But tickling your vagina as you said is obsurd.Tickling you ANYWHERE for that matter isn't proper...
Instead of laughing you should have gave him a good swift kick to the face and said"Opps, reflexes, that's tickelish there!Scuseee ME?""
I got a Penicillin shot in the butt today and now my infected tooth/gum is bleeding.? Is this normal to have my gums bleeding and basically draining? I'm thinking it's okay because of the shot I got today, it's clearing up the infection. But I can't find any info on this directly so maybe someone knows the answer already.
I need to get this cracked tooth removed but in the meantime until I can get an appt they gave me this penicillin shot.
It's like something in my gums between my tooth ruptured and gooey blood is just sitting there. I tried using a q-tip to move some of it and it just came up light and gooey and really didn't get any of it so I left it alone. but it's not actually bleeding like running down my teeth/mouth, it's just sitting there and you can tell that a piece of my gum ruptured because it's kinda covering one of my teeth. I think this has to do with the antibiotics shot I recieved because they gave me such a large dose to kill the infection asap.
It just looks weird and I'm like hey what's wrong with my gums. Also I've noticed a few large pimples on my body just waiting to be popped, looking like they're about to explode, not big or anything, but looking like it's gonna pop by itself any second, I wonder does this have to do with the penicillin working through my body and pushing out any kind of pus/abscess/infection, anyone know anything about this? thanks.
alpla replied: "That's good. Means it's draining the pus.
Of course only if bleeding is light."
Angelina D replied: "Well, if the gum was obviously infected with an abscess like bump, it is possible that the abscess ruptured and it is now draining. Rinse with luke warm salt water.... 1 table spoon of salt in 1 cup of luke warm water."
mikepruitt71 replied: "The shot and the bleeding are unrelated."
Nebula D replied: "I'm a dentist.
I seriously doubt you were given Penicillin intramuscularly like that. It's conceivable that you were, but very, very unlikely.
That being said, let us assume that you did indeed receive a dose of Penicillin. Penicillin can indeed affect your ability to clot due to the fact that it kills intestinal bacteria involved with vitamin-K uptake (if memory serves), but this effect is usually subclinical unless you have some sort of clotting disorder or are on Coumadin. In general, though, bleeding is rarely a consideration when deciding to prescribe or administer Penicillin. Hence, the bleeding of your gums is almost certainly not connected with your gluteal dose of Pen.
Now, on to the other issue. You stated that your gums are bleeding and draining. Those are different things. Bleeding is bleeding. "Draining" refers to an infection that "drains" into another cavity--such as a gingival abscess that has a hole that connects it with the oral cavity, through which there may or may not be pus exiting.
It sounds to me like you have a very bad dental abscess, and the offending tooth needs to be removed promptly. Obviously, see your dentist as soon as you can."
Sheeeeee replied: "you are having an allergic reaction to the penicillin, run to the nearest hospital & get your life saving medication. Dont know if you can make it?"
Ouch I got a penicillin shot in my butt. When does it stop hurting? I cried when I got the shot and I'm 30 years old. That's how bad it hurt. My booty hurts so bad!!!
namairb2 replied: "Try icing the spot they gave you the shot. This will help take the sting out and prevent any swelling too. The shot isn't as bad as the infection you might have had in the first place. Infections will make you very ill and it's allot better to get a shot then an infection. Good luck and God Bless"
Penicillin Shot? I have strept throat at least that's what my doctor's nurse told my from the symtoms i told her I was having,so she made me an appointment for this afternoon when I asked her how strept throat is cured, she told me the doctor normally orders a penicillin injection and she said it goes into your butt.
Now I am worried, about it and am thinking about cancelling the appointment.
I did some research here in the questions, and found some people take the shots in the butt laying on the exam table and others take the shot standing up.
Which is the best way, laying on the exam table ar standing up,and how bad do penicillin shots hurt?
One other thing that really bothers me,will I have to remove by briefs for the shot? That would embarass me so much.
laurel g replied: "No, it won't hurt much, it is really a quick thing, hardly noticeable. Your briefs will be on, just the corner, probably, held down for the quick shot. The shot is necessary.......or, you may be given pills for this. Do whatever the Dr. says to do, don't miss that appointment! Strep is nothing to fool around with...........you'll be fine."
yakkydoc replied: "Lying down will be better, as the injection, benzathine penicillin is painful. It goes into the upper outer part of the butt, so the briefs will have to be pulled down a little on one side. It is better to take the shot. Otherwise, you will have to take oral penicillin for 10 days."
lozzie replied: "I had one last year when I had strep throat and I was expecting it to painful but being the brave little soldier I am, I laid on the bed and held the corner of my undies and trousers down with a hand and the nurse told me to wiggle my toes, apparently this helps, and then she threw the needle into my butt which was a quick sting and then as the medicine went in it was just a dull ache which lasted about 10 seconds. The doctor kept me distracted by asking me something and before I knew it the nurse was telling me I could sit up. It certaintly didn't hurt and my throat was much better the next day.
I may be 20 but every doctor and surgeon I know say I am brave little soldier, I just like to get things over and done with it gives me less time to worry and get worked up about it."
Can the penicillin shot be injected anywhere? I have strept throat and Im going to the doctors tomorrow. Everytime I have it I have to get the shot in my butt, I hate it so much. It hurts so bad, leaves my butt sore, and is just embarassing. Is there anyway I can get it in my leg or my arm or anywhere else?
Someones' Mom replied: "It is given in the butt, because that is a larger muscle and not quite as much feeling as in leg or arm. A large bore needle is also used. Penicillin hurts no matter where you get it injected. But be assured, gluteus muscle is best place for injection."
Can a penicillin shot/ any shot hurt you in a negative way if applied wrong? I received a penicillin shot about a month ago. Every since i got it by butt has been hurting like if my muscle was ripped. The pain has all gone to my hip, hamstring, and side of my thigh. Does this mean it may have be injected improperly. What can be causing this? It feels like my butt/leg muscle is ripped is i do a wrong movement. Can someone tell me what is going on please?
Marnie replied: "Go see a doctor. Penicillin does hurt, but what you are describing sounds like someone didn't follow the landmarks when giving you an IM injection and hit your sciatic nerve. Your doctor could prescribe a medication to help with nerve pain. You need to make sure no permanent damage was down. I'm sorry to hear about that!"
Just had a penicillin shot? I just had a penicillin shot in my butt. I must have tightened my butt muscles or something because it really hurts. What is best to use, ibuprofen, Tylenol, etc..... Should I put ice on it or something?
real_sweetheart_76 replied: "Ibuprofen is usually the best for muscle pain."
Bimble replied: "Take whatever pain killers you would take for a headache or sprained ankle.
Try to keep off that cheek. The pain will subside over the next 2-3 days.
If the pain is severe, or you have any other problems then go back and see the person who gave you the shot."
michaelBSN replied: "penicillin is a very thick substance- even when u don't tighten your butt it hurts like hell. I wouldn't suggest what to use, sometimes it depends on y u got the shot if you should take another medicine u say ur mom is a nurse---ask her"
fairy_tale_dreams replied: "Take a combo of ibuprofen and tylenol. Tylenol for the pain..and ibuprofen to help your muscles relax. Penicillin shots always hurt."
jason g replied: "I try not to take pain killers as your body is telling you something is wrong.
When you take pain killer you will loose the ability to know if the pain is subsiding and at what rate.
Save pain killers for extreme pain not an injection in the bum.
Have a hot bath and masage area if you really need to."
Is it appropriate for a nurse to give a 14 yr old a shot in the butt? It was a penicillin for strep, and...? it hurt like h..l!!!
tessasmomy replied: "Yes, That is where pencillin shots are given."
iritadragon replied: "That nurse did you a favor! She could have put the shot into the muscles of your arm, where it would have hurt even more. I'm guessing it was a very large shot, and she needed a large muscle to put it in."
Ivan replied: "It's very appropriate. Stop whining."
misty p replied: "It is very appropriate. A shot of penicillin is a large injection. It usually takes several cc's of the medication and it tends to be quite thick, so it is injected into a large muscle to prevent irritation of the tissue around the injection site."
itsme replied: "yes it is"
therego2 replied: "get over it and it isn't the worst thing that you will ever have done to you medically."
barbi316 replied: "yes it was appropriate"
sugarbdp1 replied: "Omg she's a nurse what did U expect lol.Of course she's allowed 2 do this it doesn't matter on the age a person 100yrs old could get that shot in the butt lol"
Kimberly replied: "That is where the nurse should give that shot on a child that age. All baby shots are usually given in the leg ..at the age of 1 year it is appropriate to give children shots in the buttocks! They can give it in the thigh..like we do for babies. One cc is the max. dose that should be given in the arm...anything more can cause an abcess. Most of the pain was probably burning from the medicine...not the shot it's self."
Nik replied: "you are SO lucky... penicylin intramuscular, in the arm hurts like the blue blazes...
and it has to be done so quick and forcefully, or else it will solidify and render the needle useless... wich means, one more needle, one more try.
as for ethical - appropriate... heh.. don't worry... 4 years from now you'll dream of that kind of attention from a nurse :))"
Cecelia replied: "well if it saved your life i should hope it was appropriate...... and I have had 2 penicilin shots in the thighs and 1 in the butt all at 5years old, the thighs hurt much much worse than the butt"
Brian replied: "would you rather she stick the needle in your eyeball?"
exert-7 replied: "Only appropriate if you were sick."
Mandee replied: "It is the most common place to have this particular shot. Very thick and needs a big muscle. I have had older men refuse to have the shot in the butt and they would call back the next day complaining that there arm hurt and they couldn't move it or even think about working! Almost crying like a baby! Just be glad she did it the right way!"
me replied: "i had strepand all i got waz medicine. wierd that they give u a shot. i would b embarrased. wat if u were having ur period!!!!!!!!!!"
real_sweetheart_76 replied: "Penicillin shots go in the butt. It would have hurt a hell of a lot worse in your arm."
who has had the penicillin shot for strep throat? My sister got it in her butt and she said it hurt like heck. She screamed and cried while getting it. Now I have strep and my mom wants to take me to get that same shot.
I'm freaking out, I don't want that shot. Does it hurt really as bad as my sis says? Do I have to get one??????
AAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Susan C replied: "it hurt pretty bad...
it's thick stuff and they shoot it in a muscle...
it's easier than taking meds orally for 7-10 days though..."
