Strange headache on zoloft and other side effects, anyone else? About 4 days ago I started having this weird headache that lasted only for a second, but keeps coming about every 5 minutes or so. It doesn't stay in one place in my head, it can be in my eyes, neck, back of my head, anywhere! I'm also seeing mild flashes of light every now and then. I got a cat scan done and the Dr. said that the cat scan was fine. He said these headaches might be from zoloft. I also sometimes clench my teeth and feel zombie-ish. Anyone else?

t1enice replied: "stay away from drugs from chemcials companies,,,bad thing---"

computerguru56@yahoo.com replied: "havent you ever checked to see all the side effects of zoloft? look at all the poeple who have killed other people while taking that crap...quit taking it now...gezee"

librarymouse06 replied: "When are you seeing the Doctor ? Soon I hope... Have you stopped taking Zoloft? The best thing is keep a log of these problems so you can share with your doctor ..... My hubby was on a new medication for cholesterol and now it caused him to become a diabetic through side effects, so please don't mess around."

Fallen Angel replied: "I also take Zoloft and have for 13 years. I do find myself clinching my teeth occasionally but that is the only possible side effect I have experienced and I am not even sure that is from the Zoloft. You should contact the Physician who prescribed your medication and let him/her know what side effects you are having. They may need to adjust or change your medication. Good luck and God Bless! :)"

patcanplay2000 replied: "Your headache symptoms are related to migraine headaches. It is good you had tests; however, Zoloft may not be the cause. You could talk to the psychologist who prescribed Zoloft to you and determine if adjusting the amount of Zoloft you are taking may resolve your symptoms. Perhaps the headaches are related to the reason(s) Zoloft was prescribed to you; possible depression, anxiety, etc. Zoloft helps but s/be combined with therapy to possibly change behaviors to achieve a happier, healthier way of life. Good luck to you."

Sparty replied: "You should check the side effects pamphlet that came with the drug. I know, who reads all that crap. But really, there is alot of info there that people should be aware of. It could be a common side effect of the drug or something more serious. Check with your doctor quickly to be safe."

Started taking Zoloft. I now have a horrible headache. Any experience with this? I have also heard that I may gain a lot of weight taking this. Is this true?? How do I get rid of this headache??? The pharamacist said not to take anything with caffeine in it because of drug interaction.

ruonlinetoday replied: "Have you called your doctor?"

Angela F replied: "Call your doctor and let him know about the headache. He will either tell you what to do for it or prescribe something else."

Jenna replied: "I took Zoloft almost a year ago. It was NOT what I needed. I experienced headaches, and serve mood swings. Made me manic in a way. I cold turkey stopped taking the Zoloft and now take Ativan 1mg, for my severe anxiety."

Zoloft and headache problem? Hey my friend is on 25 mg of zoloft and has a headache. What can she do about it since Ive been told tylenol and advil could be bad... shes 19. thanks no mean answers please

jbro replied: "i'm 19, took the same amount of zoloft a month ago and when i took advil I was fine. the only things you really want to avoid would be sudafed or robitussin, since those make you trip out."

JAMES P replied: "Tylenol and Advil can't be as bad as Zoloft, especially if you don't take more that what is prescribed on the bottle. All medications have side effects, even aspirin, but some are worse than others. Zoloft is an antidepressant and if taken for long periods, can cause suicidal intentions. It can be given for headaches, but better check the risks before taking them for pain. They say that Tylenol is bad for the liver and I know Advil is bad for the kidneys, but only when taken excessively and for long periods of time. Your friend needs to find out what is causing her headaches and maybe already has done that. If not, she could be low on female hormones, low potassium and magnesium levels, birth control pills, or medications themselves. Does she need glasses, or getting herself off caffeine, lots of things. She needs to sit and think what is new for her, like medicines, foods, depression that maybe these headaches started at that exact time she did whatever different or new. I wish for your friend young lady and hopefully she will be able to figure the headaches out and that they go away never to return. You young lady need a pat on the back for caring about your friend."

Are these headaches caused by zoloft or what? I have been taking 50mg of zoloft for the past month and a half. I always take it in the morning. I think its really starting to work but just recently I have been getting headaches and slight anxiety at night and I think my ears are ringing. Do I need more zoloft or what is going on here?

happychicamia_shane replied: "call your doc let them know what u r going through i see what they think your next step should be never change your med dose without talking to your doc 1st."

josh_hartzler replied: "Tell your doctor whats going on and he/she may tell you if he/she has to change the dose or what, and anxiety is like one of the secondary effects of zoloft when youre starting to take it, so dont worry about that."

What can I take for my severe headaches, caused by withdrawal from my Zoloft medication? I've slowly reduced my Zoloft dosage from 50 mg down to nothing, and now I'm suffering from the most intense headaches I've ever had in my life. The headaches are focused around my eyes and also the back of the head, and are accompanied by dizziness, blurred vision, etc. Nothing I take seems to decrease the headaches. Has anyone experienced this before? Any advice on an over-the-counter pain killer that will help with this headaches & vertigo? Thanks!

rachel replied: "advil or motrin"

The White Devil replied: "Honestly there isn't much you can do except wait it out. Drink lots of water and eat salty things...even if you don't feel hungry. You should feel better in a few days..."

GmanDO replied: "It's not a bad idea to ask others who may have experienced this but if I were you I'd just go see my Doctor right away and tell him about it. If the headaches are so bad, why aren't you in the E.R. like, right now? They are more qualified than anyone on these sites unless they are Doctors or health care professionals themselves."

Kathaleen replied: "I would of at least weened myself off slower by taking the 25 mg for awhile, the side affects are less severe with each decreasing dose.Your doctor will prescribe you something to ease these effects, something that is not addictive."

Headache, tired with zoloft (100mg) ? Isn't it supposed to start working after over a month? But there is more 'hopelessness', feelings of complete disinterest, irritiation, sleep, headache etc.

chikaomiski replied: " better for you to take "lendormin" and "i" at a time. 2 times a day."

Skeeeeeetz replied: "I have been on Zoloft for almost three years now and I don't know how I got by without it before. Different doctors put me on and off the med several times. Both the withdrawal coming off and the adjustment period when starting the drug were bad, but they do eventually go away (even though it may take longer that the 8-12 weeks that the doctor tells you). You can't get a real feeling of how it is working until you are adjusted to the med with no more dosage adjustments. At that point, I feel like, it really helps with my anxiety. I would describe it as being more leveled off. I don't have as many lows and I don't have as many highs. That is kind of the disappointing part (not having the highs), but getting rid of some of the lows is worth it. Don't get me wrong! I highly recommend the drug and I'm glad I went through the pain, but you have to be committed to getting better if you are going to start the med. After losing weight during the transition period, I did gain that 15 lbs back plus 5 or so more, but it is worth the sacrifice. Besides, now I'm in a better mood to go out and get some exercise. I would also suggest seeing a therapist. This is even more important, though. Visit a few and made sure you feel comfortable with them before you commit to one. I had several and didn't realize that most of them were not helping because I really didn't believe they could help me."

Zoloft equals headaches and upset stomach? On my second day, I take 1- 100mg tab a day in the morning. I am experiencing a MAJOR headache and severe upset stomach. I don't know if I can handle this? Is this suppose to happen? This is not fun.

Shaylie R replied: "Ya there are side effects and if your just starting to take it 100 MG sounds like a bit too much..."

Maria replied: "100 mg is way too much for anyone starting on Zoloft. The usual dose is 25 mg for a week, then up to 50 mg for the next three weeks. If you have anxiety like I did (along with depression), then the usual rule is to "start slow and titrate upward slowly). I started at 12.5 mg daily for two weeks. Headaches and stomach problems are not uncommon side effects. For most people they usually go away."

What type of pain reliever can you take with zoloft? I have a headache and need to get some type of pain reliever. What's the safest thing I can take while taking a daily dose of 100mg of Zoloft?

Walking on Sunshine replied: "This is a question best posed to your Dr since there are other factors like what other medications you are on. The absolute safest would be a topical product like "Head On" since it is non-reactive but if you are sensitive to any of the ingredients that would be counter productive. It is better to talk to your Dr or Pharmacist. Good Luck!"

muddypuppyuk replied: "Any OTC pain reliever is fine.... .."

Sword of God replied: "acetaminophen (paracetamol)"
