Does anyone out there take'cymbalta'(30 to 60 mg.'s)?I take with 'lorazepam',is it a good for anxiety,and dep? The bad thing is,I don't feel like geting up 'til 12 pm.Please help.

a rob replied: "what is your question? does cymbalta help with anxiety? it certainly helps with depression, but cymbalta is not typically regarded as an anxiolytic. you can try lowering your dose of lorazepam if you feel like a zombie, but still want its effects."

Any information on taking Cymbalta 30 mg. with 50 mg. of Zoloft would be nice. I have been on zoloft for one? month along with xanax...depression is worse so my dr is adding cymbalta, I have been having bad dierehha and feeeling very week im thinking its the zoloft,,,,going to a reg. dr today to see what he thinks...im scared its serotin syndrome and now i have to take the cymbalta too.

tietzedet replied: "I would def. see a psychiatrist - rather than a regular MD. MD's are for the body and do not specialize in the mind. If you are not satisfied with what you are getting from the doctor that is prescribing the meds for you - get a second opinion - Xanax is generally for anxiety and Zoloft is for depression. I don't believe you should be taking two antidepressants - you doctor should try you on a completely different one an see how your respond to a higher dosage with one of the other antidepressants. Remember you are the captain of your own destiny and need to focus on yourself and your mental health. Good luck ;)"

On Cymbalta, 30 mg, for depression/anxiety, what's the best med to keep weight off plus keep my sex drive up? Been on cymbalta 20 mg, then had to go up to 30 and seemed to want to eat more and gained weight, not much, but a little, plus on blood pressure med, and with both have no sex drive. Heard on t.v. the other day about pristiq, is it better? Going to my Dr. next week and wanted to know before asking about Pristiq, also heard a Dr. on t.v. talking about Deplin, and how it doesn't affect you much but helps with depression, along with other med, can it be used alone? He said it doesn't cause weight gain, or make your sex drive less, ect, I love the Cymbalta but still have small bouts of depression at times, plus have NO ENERGY! Any suggestions? Also, tried Prozac, Effexor, Lexapro, ect, and gained so much weight it was unreal, cymbalta has been great about the weight except when I went up...just want to know if there are any new anti-depressants out there now that would help better with the weight and sex drive ect...thanks for any imput.

I stopped taking my cymbalta 30 mg. The doctor had me on .5 xanax to sleep at night and that works well. Will the xanax help with the withdrawls from the cymbalta?

scottish_highland_lassie replied: "When my psych took me off Cymbalta, she also prescribed Xanax, and I did not have any problems with withdrawals. I was on it for about 6 months, 60 mg per day."

James b-ridge replied: "when I stopped cybalta cold turkey, I had a panic attack that lasted a month...if you stop it, ween off of it, a little at a time, dont just stop it like I did!"

kinndee@verizon.net replied: "It may cause you to get sleepy, or get diarrhea. I had a decrease in my sex drive, but thats not common (but a possibility). I lost weight with this medicine, not a drastic amount, but a few pounds, which made me feel a little better about myself. Theres so much information on the web about it...its a good idea to do a search on it and read up on it. the pamphlet they give you when you start it gives you the basics, but I prefer to have as much info as possible. If you start having thoughts of suicide or an irregular heartbeat, or feel really dizzy or lightheaded, you need to call your doctor ASAP! These aren't normal side effects. It means that either the drug isn't right for you or your dose needs adjusted. If you get an infection and have to go on antibiotics, you should talk to your doctor and let him/her know that you're taking this medicine, since your dose may need to be readjusted for a short time (antibiotics alter the way this drug works). I started really noticing a difference in my mood after about 3-4 weeks..and I feel better yet now. Hang in there, and do your homework--do a search and see what else you can find."

bookworm9284 replied: "I have been taking it for 6 or 7 months. But I take the 60 mg twice a day. When I first started taking it, I would sleep almost all day. But after a week or so, that stopped. Believe me, the good outweighs the bad anyday!!!!!"

mylovebay replied: "I have been taking it for about six months, although I have been on anti-depressants for four years. I experienced increased sweating while on it. Even though I'm not hot I still sweat. It's kind of embarrassing but I have severe OCD and not taking it is not an option"

I just started taking Cymbalta, is there any way I can decrease my now lowered sex drive? I just started taking Cymbalta, 30 mg. In a few days I am going to take 60 mg. David replied: "you could switch to wellbutrin which has no sexual side affects."

Paul A replied: "I take generic Wellbutrin SR (150 mg) in the morning, and Lexapro (10 mg) with dinner, for depression and anxiety. I've been taking that for over two years, and it's working very well for me. The Wellbutrin SR seems to help me to be more alert and active - and wanting to do things - while the Lexapro makes me more mellow, and it helps me sleep better, too. They are relatively low doses of each medication, which keeps side effects at a minimum. I really can't tell I'm taking any medication at all. There are a lot of people that take Wellbutrin with their SSRI's and SNRI's, it helps to counteract some of the possible side effects - such as drowsiness, weight gain, and the sexual side effects. It really does make a difference!!"

Because adverse sexual reactions are presumed to be voluntarily underreported, the Arizona Sexual Experience Scale (ASEX), a validated measure designed to identify sexual side effects, was used prospectively in 4 MDD placebo-controlled trials. Males treated with Cymbalta experienced more difficulty with ability to reach orgasm (ASEX Item 4) than males treated with placebo. Females did not experience more sexual dysfunction on Cymbalta than on placebo as measured by ASEX total score. Negative numbers signify an improvement from a baseline level of dysfunction, which is commonly seen in depressed patients. Physicians should routinely inquire about possible sexual side effects. This side effect will be less only after reduce dosage of Cymbalta... or after 14 days after last taking cymbalta."

Lisa replied: "One common problem that happens is this. I have been there and done that. You have to figure out what it is first that is destroying your sex drive. If your on medication like birth control or anti-depressants that is something to think about and do research on. Other then that it could just be stress, maybe the kids, really anything that makes your life stressful can do this and lower the libido. One thing I tried that seemed to work while I was doing it was exercising. I just felt sexier doing it which kind of boosted my libido. However it wasn't the best solution for me. I started Cymbalta 30 mg this morning? Got a rush of energy earlier and now i can not stop yawning. Should i try it at night? And can I take it with Ambion?

Patrick R replied: "This actually depends on your individual body chemistry. My wife is on cymbalta, at the same dosage. It usually amps her up for a while, so she tries to avoid dosage at night. If you're finding the opposite problem there's nothing wrong with taking it later in the day so long as you're consistant. Incidentally, she was also placed on a 10mg of Ambien with it, so yes. You absolutely can take an Ambien on top of Cymbalta. There's no negative drug interaction that our pharmacist mentioned. You just might fall asleep a little later because of that energy rush."

I have been on 30 mg. of cymbalta now for 3 days,i seem to be a little more anxious,I have bad anxiety? and take xanx for that(it dont seem to be helping) Would starting cymbalta cuase worse anxiety at first...like a side effect that will hopefully go away

Sara replied: "Yes, it can initially make you anxious. Try taking it early in the morning. It will also make you very thirsty, so keep the water bottle handy. Cymbalta works with both serontonin and norepinephrine. If you ever need to get off of it though, it is extremely hard to wean yourself."
