How long after taking a 1 gram of azithromycin to treat chlamydia will it be safe to have sex again? How long after taking a 1 gram of azithromycin to treat chlamydia will it be safe to have sex again?

genkilady replied: "as long as its SAFE sex you should be ok. but I would take a break.... it wont drop off or heal up."

BETTY replied: "take your whole dose. don't stop until the prescription is all gone. and use condoms from now on, it will eliminate the chances of this happening again. after the prescription is gone it may be a good idea to get a recheck at the doctor or clinic to make sure it is cleared up completely"

starlite replied: "you should abstain for 10 days until both partners are treated."

Carly W replied: "2 weeks!! you can spread it up till then. And the person you got it from.. if you are still sleeping with them.. 2 weeks after they are treated too"

Treating for STDs without specific testing? I have been tested for HIV/AIDS recently and am clean and clear on that front. I am a little concerned about Chlamydia, Bacterial Vaginosis, and Trich however. I have had unprotected sex in the past and have learned that chlamydia can be asymptomatic. I have had some vaginal irritation that was not cleared by Diflucan. The symptoms are closely matched to both BV and Trich. I have the ability to obtain prescriptions for one dose treatments for each of these conditions. What does anyone think about just taking these treatments to eradicate any possible infection without testing? I would like to take the one dose treatments one each day or possibly every other day treating one condition at a time. I have done some research online and there doesn't appear to be any risk to taking these medications, they are very common. Please advise. Thank you. 2 grams of Flagyl (Trich and BV) 1 gram Azithromycin (Chlamydia) Both prescriptions are full one dose treatments (one dose is a full course of treatment).

peanut replied: "If you don't know what you might have, then how do you know you are cured? Go to the doctor, ok?"

Savvy replied: "I do not think that a good idea as you may only suppress the infection and it will smoulder. Better to take full course after identifying the infection"

radha k replied: "Please do not experiment u r self Just go to doctor nothing will happen else the situation may go bad. Get it confirmed and take the medicine in full. Best of luck for u."

Daniel replied: "Bacterial Vaginosis is not a sexually transmitted disease. If you want more info about the disease, it's symptoms and optional treatments then check out this blog:"

cebleem replied: "I think it is fine to take the medication before knowing if you have either of these 2 things. My advise to you is, make sure you get tested for these things by blood, BEFORE YOU TAKE THE MEDICATION the reason being.... what happens if you do not get tested, and after taking these medications you find you still have symptoms?? you will be back to square one. If you get the test - then take the medication - then get the results. Either of 2 things can then happen 1 - you were positive for both or one of trich/bv. and have already had the medication. but remeber to get tested again to ensure the medicaiton cleared it up. 2 - you do not have either of these, and need further tests to find out why you are having these symptoms."

Gonorrhea + cloudy urine? I'll try to summarize as best I can. Last month I was tested positive for chlamydia after having a new sexual partner (first in 4 years). This partner is quite sexually open and has his fair sexual partners, uses condoms all the time. We both took antibiotics, I started on doxycycline but only took 4 doses because it made me throw up. I went back for 1 gram of azithromycin. A week after the azithro my symptoms weren't gone yet (lessened though) so I took 5 days (10 doses) of the doxy to be safe. About 2 and a half weeks after I was tested positive, and were both treated, we had sex again. While he was out of the room I noticed a prescription bottle on his dresser and looked out of curiosity, and it was cefixime, on the bottle it said "for PIDor epidymitis." When I got home I looked it up and found out it's used to treat gonorrhea. What I'm not sure about is if he had gonorrhea, if I did too but the doctor messed up/it didn't come up in the test, or if he was just treated for both chlamydia and gonorrhea because they often come together. I didn't see any other prescription bottles though, and far as I know cefixime doesn't treat chlamydia. Well, almost a week later and I had some cloudy urine, and I know this can be a symptom of gonorrhea. I'm wondering if the doxy and azithro I took would have treated it (if I had it before I started the course of antibiotics) or not? If you get cloudy urine with gonorrhea, is it always cloudy? The last time I went to the bathroom my urine looked normal again. I have no other symptoms, as far as I can tell, so far. In about a month I will be getting retested to make sure the antibiotics worked, but until then I would like some peace of mind. Thanks.

a man replied: "From your description, seems combination of doxy & azithro(common bacterial STD medicine) did their work. I'm pretty sure you are clear. Meanwhile, if you are still concerned as most people would, you might want to seek God. Because God works miracles & I hope it'll give you some peace of mind too. God bless."

Chlamydia Treatment Question...? It's actually a couple questions.. 1. How long does a 1 gram dose of azithromycin (aka zithromax) stay in your system? If you took it on Tuesday but had sex on say Thursday/Friday could you still get reinfected? My doctor didn't mention how long to wait.... 2. How long before you should go back and get retested to see if you have been cured?

thedeafblindmute replied: "People here told me the treatment is 2 weeks. The meds were different, but, obviously, the longer the better."

Suzanne G replied: "can't believe your doctor didn't advise you. need to abstain from sex for 7 days following treatment. you are gonna need retreating. and the partner. its not rocket science, is it."

Olga O replied: "It's not good. The rule says: do not have sex at least one week after treatment with azithromycin. There may still be a risk of transmitting the infection to sexual partners during this time. If your partner receives treatment for chlamydia, do not have sex until at least a week after both of you have been treated. So, I think you should visit your Dr one more time."

lilbufladybug187 replied: "first- does the person you had sex with know you have chlamydia? if yes why why did you both deside to have sex ? you keep passing it on. and if she doesnt know than you need to tell her because now she has it and can keep passing it on. Second- zithromax is really really expencive why would you want to pay another 100.00 to get more? my kids get sick i know the price. it takes a week for the pills to kick in and to be safe you should wait another week just to make sure! be safe read the lable and dr. sheets you get they give really good info. GOOD LUCK and RAP IT UP!!!!!"

sandi replied: "you should not have sex until you get retested and all comes out negitive. Your doctor only gave you a one day/one medication for treatment? You should be retested 1-2 weeks after the treatment finishes."
